There is also a growing excitement about the prospects for 3D programming which could help to propel disc based media still further. The Keynote Interview

The challenges facing the content storage and distribution industries have never been greater as new delivery platforms and technology innovations combine to create opportunities for, and threats to, existing revenue streams. This has resulted in industries from a range of different backgrounds and skill sets, all with an eye on the business potential and diversification opportunities, colliding in what is an increasingly competitive marketplace. In this in-depth keynote interview, Blair Westlake shares his vision of the future landscape for content delivery.
- Blair Westlake, Corporate Vice President, Media & Entertainment Group, Microsoft Corporation
9:30 a.m.
- Security Issues Facing the Content Community
Content protection is a lot more than DRM – it needs to be protected at every stage from the point of creation right through to the end user. Not all protection is electronic, in the case of physical media it may be a simple lock and key. This session, featuring representatives from four industries that provide entertainment content on both physically and electronically, will highlight the security challenges they face and the ways in which they address them.

- Future Directions in Storage and Distribution [Panel]
For many years its low cost-per-megabyte has made optical disc the format of choice for data storage and delivery, but things are changing. Larger, more power-efficient hard drives with smaller form factors and the falling cost of Flash memory mean that cost is no longer the inhibitor it was and users are free to make their choices based on performance and convenience. The availability of mass storage devices at increasingly lower cost is also changing the way consumers store and back up their content.
